Since the construction of the airbase at Summerside began in 1940 as part of the British Commonwealth Training Plan (BCATP) many hundreds of civilian and military personnel have passed through the base portals in support of Canada's Air Force contribution in war and peace. While some have been remembered, the presence of a vast majority has alas been forgotten. In addition, many families, relatives and friends have lost loved ones in conflicts and UN Operations in which Canada has participated over many decades.

The Commemorative Stone Project offers a way for all these personnel to be remembered by an engraved stone laid along the Walk of Honour pathway in the Air Force Heritage Park. The stones will celebrate people who served their country and remind us that their contributions have made the military and the country what it is today. The placement of a Commemorative Stone along the Walk of Honour is an excellent way to remember a loved one and makes a very unique gift.

The granite stones, which measure (7″ x 14″ x 2 3/4″) will be engraved with the name, hometown & province, unit or affiliation and dates of service of the individual being remembered. Lettering will be of the donor's choice within approved guidelines. An Air Force Roundel will be utilized for all those associated with Airforce service and a Canada Maple Leaf Flag will be utilized for all other affiliations.

We are no longer selling stones. We thank all the contributors for their support and especially their patience and be assured that we will continue to maintain the Park.
